The Townsville Advanced Recycled Water Treatment Plant is a 15 MLD facility designed to produce Class A recycled water to enhance water security and support future industry, including hydrogen production.
The plant uses a custom ion exchange system to reduce uranium levels from 29-55 ppb to below 1 ppb. With a 360kL daily capacity, the project under budget, and funded by a $28 million investment from the Territory Labor Government.
The Tooheys Project utilises advanced RO technology to treat wastewater, specifically MBR permeate, to a high standard of water quality suitable for non-potable applications. The plant is designed to treat up to 100 kL of water per hour, significantly boosting the site’s water recycling capabilities.
