Two years ago, four lifelong friends sat around a coffee table and made a decision that changed our lives. Commercialise a technology that could tackle one of the water industry’s most persistent, costly, and overlooked challenges. Fouling, energy waste, and membrane degradation.

Since day one, the mission has been clear: build Australia’s first homegrown membrane technology.

Driven by equal parts caffeine and conviction, we were determined not to let our work sit idle in academic journals.

What began as a water challenge quickly exposed a cross-industry problem. Water was the entry point; advanced materials became the scalable solution.

This capital will go directly toward advancing our two core R&D projects:

PHANTOM — our nanocomposite thin-film polyamide membrane designed to deliver higher flux, reducing energy consumption and extending element life in desalination and water treatment systems.

IGNITION — our superhydrophobic feed spacer coating that repels biofilm, reduces fouling-driven pressure drop, and cuts the need for harsh chemical cleaning cycles across NF/RO systems.

Our early R&D results are already demonstrating strong performance, positioning Metasorb to shakeup the water sector.

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the belief of our investors. Thank you to the University of Sydney Pre-Seed Fund and NextGen Ventures for backing our vision.

Huge thanks to our academic partners at the University of Sydney, CSIRO, and UNSW, and to our advisers and early champions, especially Nick Tsougaris, Cicada Innovations, Kai Man Yuen MSc MBM, and the INCUBATE team, for backing us from day one.

To the people who believed in me before there was anything to believe in — Alexander Coulson, Lucas Masakovski and Gabriel Di Mattia, this is as much yours as it is mine… thank you.

We’re just getting started.
